Currently in Chile, there are no official guidelines that determine the role and/or professional profile of rural teachers, nor are there any for teachers working in urban settings. There are only general guidelines that cement some of the teaching functions to be performed at the national level. These guidelines are not exhaustive. This is the case with those contained in some legal frameworks such as the General Education Law, the Curriculum Foundations, Study Programs, the Framework for Good Teaching, among others.
